Mt. Lookout Square
“Revitalization” Project Update
October 13, 2010
The Mt. Lookout Square Revitalization Project - Phase 1 is almost
complete!
Phase 1
includes new and wider sidewalks, improved gas/water infrastructure,
resurfaced streets, decorative lighting, new trees, enhanced
greenspace, additional traffic islands at the south crossings on Delta
Ave and Linwood Ave, “bumpouts” at the crosswalks and new traffic
signals.
There have
been some delays in completing this initial construction phase of the
project (originally due to be completed by the end of October,
2010). RA Miller and Duke Energy are working with the City of
Cincinnati to complete the remaining construction as soon as
posisble. There have been scheduling conflicts that are
delaying the remaining construction, and the Mt. Lookout Community
Development Corporation (MLCDC) is working with these organizations to
get things back on track.
The MLCDC has
received messages from people traveling through the Square expressing
concern about traffic conjestion. The MLCDC believes that the
traffic flow will improve once the construction equipment is gone, and
the new signals are fully operational. The left turn lane
from Linwood onto Delta will be operational once the power has been
re-routed by Duke and signals are complete. We would also
like to remind everyone that the intention of "tightening" the lanes in
the Square is to slow down traffic, making it a safer place for
pedestrians.
Please keep
an eye on the Mt. Lookout Community Council website for additional
updates.
Sincerely,
Andy Park
Past President, MLCDC
